Ok, I admit it! My proclamation of only liking piecing is a lie!
Isn't it funny how you change over your lifespan?? When I started quilting in 1991, I was 22 years old. My first quilt was a log cabin quilt and I hand quilted it. After I was done I said, "NEVER AGAIN! I HATE TEDIOUS HAND WORK!"
Fast forward to 2013, I am part of a Hexy English Paper Piecing bee, I have hexy quilts I'm piecing BY HAND, and I have become obsessed with free motion quilting! I am so obsessed with free motion quilting, that my responsibility to my 2 bees slipped my mind!
Yes, it is interesting how 22 years of maturation can change your opinion and outlook on things.
Last night, I stayed up until 3am working on my June's Get Your Hex On block. June was so crazy with family stuff, I didn't get it done and then forgot all about it. Chelsie sent out octogons and little squares and asked for low-volume fabric. She has been patient with me, I hope she likes this. I popped it into the mail this morning.
I am in the process of basting up tons of 1 inch yellow hexies for Erin, July's Queen Bee. I hope to have them in the mail this coming Friday. I also need to work on my Simply Solids July block too for Friday's mail!
So what about my obsession??? With out further ado here are blocks 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 of Leah Day's Quilting a Sampler Craftsy Class.
I decided I don't like pebbling. Its too boring, and involves way to much travel stitching.
My brain decided it doesn't like "snake paisely" (large gray section). "Round paisly" (the green section) is much easier!
Feathers. Kind of boring. Look closely at the upper left corner and you can see I had a hard time matching them up.
Feathers on a curve in a Zig Zag! Need more practice!
Swirls! Such fun! Another go at "snake paisley" and it was confirmed my brain doesn't work that way!
Ahhh... such fun!!! Never once broke thread!
There you have it! Have a great week!
