March is here Yippee, Hooray!!!
March 1st is my favorite day of the year!! Lucky for me it fell on a Friday, so I can logically explain why. :)
This picture sums it up! (although it is a picture book I've not read, it is the best representation I could find on the web)
I grew up in Alaska, so I never understood the saying, "March roars in like a lion and out like a lamb." In Alaska, March was a cold, wet rainy month that still included snowfall. In fact many a times we had snow on Easter, in April! My love of March started in Alaska though, because daylight grew by leaps and bound every day of the month, not just by two minutes per week, like here. In examining a sunrise sunset time table, here, you can see my hometown will gain 40 minutes of daylight between today and next Friday!
In North Texas, March marks spring, which by the way officially begins March 20th. This morning I woke to birds chirping and my roses are covered in new, red growth. Although we may have an overnight freeze still, or a cold windy day, it will only be one or two. Winter's end is definitely in sight!
On a personal note, this week has been a tough one. I have continued to battle this head cold turned upper respiratory infection. I finally had to submit to it yesterday and stay home from work because I had no voice. As I put on Facebook, "What good is a psychotherapist with no voice?" Naturally, my friends and family came back with:
A GREAT ONE!
ONE WHO LISTENS!
A POPULAR ONE!
My point of all this is my bee blocks are late!
I've yet to start my Simply Solid block for February. :(
And my Get Your Hex On block is packaged and sitting, waiting to be mailed. :(
Sorry ladies, I didn't plan on being sick for 2 weeks, or having no energy to do anything outside of work and sleep. :(
The good news is that I am feeling better today! My voice is a croak, but that is better than a whisper. I'm so glad because this is not how I want to start my favorite month. It is my normal day off from the office, so I plan to work on the solid block, and get the hex block to the mail today! Plus yesterday, I was going thru my magazines and there are several new projects I want to pursue!

I too love March - though sometimes even here in the PNW it is fickle. Looking back three years we had a huge snowstorm on March 3 - let us not wish for that. But the days are longer - by several minutes a day - oh happiness!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your cold is getting better - Don's is too, finally Happy March (it is my birthday month so I too love it for that reason - now I must begin to shop for everyone's gifts for my birthday party - they will have such fun opening them)
